SP 2010 OOB Social Icon

Social Icon in SP 2010 are the “I like it” and “Tags and Notes”.

Here is the code to add the social icons to the Top Ribbon next to the user profile button:

<div style="float:left; padding-top:10px;"><SharePoint:DelegateControl ControlId="GlobalSiteLink3-mini" Scope="Farm" runat="server"/></div>

It goes before <div class=”s4-trc-container-menu”> in the master page.

Add My Links to MySite 2010

Laura Rogers did a great post on getting the My Links displaying on MySite 2010

http://www.sharepoint911.com/blogs/laura/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?List=daba3a3b%2Dc338%2D41d8%2Dbf52%2Dcd897d000cf3&ID=66&Web=dbb90e85%2Db54c%2D49f4%2D8e97%2D6d8258116ca0

In the post, Laura mentioned to go to Central Admin to add My Links to the top of My Site. I simply went to Site Actions->Site Settings->Top Link Bar to add “/_layouts/MyQuickLinks.aspx” as a new link. (I had Owner permission for My Site collections)

Avinash has this post http://sharepointreporter.wordpress.com/2010/10/21/my-links-missing-in-sharepoint-2010/ which lead me to Laura’s site.

TechNet also has a post on this which has a lot of screenshots (http://blogs.technet.com/b/praveenh/archive/2011/10/12/my-links-in-sharepoint-2010.aspx)

**There is an CodePlex project for MyLinks at http://mylinks.codeplex.com/, installed on preproduction environment, worked fine.
